The holiday weekend will feature mostly sunny skies and seasonable weather for residents living in the Chicago area.
A high pressure will bring beautiful weather in the area for the weekend and into Monday, AccuWeather Meteorologist Maggie Samuhel said.
High temperatures are expected to be in the 80s F for most of the weekend around Chicago with nighttime conditions remaining comfortable with the low temperatures in the mid-60s F. The average high for Chicago this time of year is 84 degrees Fahrenheit.
Those who are participating in outdoor activities can expect perfect conditions for barbecues, fireworks and other activities for the Independence Day weekend. In addition, fans headed to Wrigley Field to catch the first ever post-game fireworks show hosted by the Cubs should enjoy clear skies throughout the night.
As we head into the early part of the workweek, the threat of rain will increase as a storm system will move into the area Monday evening.
"A front is expected to approach Chicago during the evening hours on Monday which will increase the chance for a late-day shower or thunderstorm" Samuhel said.
