GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) The family of Bart Starr says the Hall of Fame quarterback is recovering after breaking his hip just before Christmas.

Starr's family issued a statement through the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. The family says Starr, who turned 82 on Saturday, fell in the bathroom three days before Christmas and broke his hip.

The family says Starr will be in a wheelchair for six weeks but is ''doing great now'' and ''is in good spirits.''

Starr suffered two strokes and a heart attack in 2014. But he made the trip to Green Bay for a Thanksgiving ceremony honoring another Packers great, Brett Favre.

From 1956-71, Starr led the Packers to five championships, as well as Super Bowl I and II titles. He was the MVP in both of those Super Bowl.
