Scotland's Paul Lawrie shot a 3-under 69 for a one-shot lead after the second round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Lawrie had just one bogey on Friday in another tough day for players at Gary Player Country Club. He made four birdies for a 4-under 140 total and a one-shot lead over Ryder Cup teammate Martin Kaymer.

Germany's Kaymer had five birdies, but he had back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 8 and 9.

Charl Schwartzel recovered from a bogey on his second hole to finish at 71 at 1 under along with Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen and Bill Haas.
