The Pirates on Friday finalized their contract with right-handed pitcher Kevin Correia. He received a two-year contract worth $8 million.

Correia, 30, went 10-10 with a 5.40 ERA in 28 games with the San Diego Padres last season. In 2009, he won a career-high 12 games and posted a 3.91 ERA in 33 starts with the Padres.

"Kevin Correia is a solid major league starting pitcher and a strong addition to our rotation," Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said. "We feel he is poised for a return to his 2009 form where he gave his club a chance to win nearly every start."
