All Apologies

In the most direct statement to the Iranian regime to date, President Obama today said he doesn't really care about Ahmadinejad asking for an apology to the country of Iran.

"I don't take Mr. Ahmadinejad's statements seriously about apologies, particularly given the fact that the United States has gone out of its way not to interfere with the election process in Iran." Obama said at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The Iranian President recently accused the United States and Britain in meddling in Iranian affairs, despite the fact that President Obama has insisted he would not get in the middle of the election results and ensuing protests.

"He might want to consider looking at the families of those who've been beaten or shot or detained," Obama said. "And, you know, that's where I think Mr. Ahmadinejad and others need to answer their questions."

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the call for an apology from the Iranian President was preposterous. "I think, again, what you've seen from Ahmadinejad is -- is probably right out of the regime's playbook." Gibbs said.
