UN says a year after Gaza war, a few homes destroyed in the fighting will finally be rebuilt
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A U.N. aid agency that helps Palestinians in Gaza says that after numerous delays, it's ready to begin helping a small number of people rebuild their homes, destroyed in last summer's war in the coastal strip.
About 18,000 homes were destroyed during the 50-day war between the Islamic militant Hamas group and Israel. A year later, not one has been rebuilt.
Robert Turner, head of UNWRA in Gaza, said Wednesday 35 families will get funding initially, with about 50 others to follow.

The war killed over 2,200 Palestinians and 73 people on the Israeli side.
