Rare Warhol portrait of Liz Taylor expected to fetch $11.5 million at London auction
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}LONDON (AP) — Auction house Christie's says a rare Andy Warhol portrait of Hollywood screen legend Elizabeth Taylor will go on sale in London this month.
"Silver Liz" is expected to fetch up to 8 million pounds ($11.5 million) when it goes under the hammer June 30.
The portrait was painted in 1963, the year Taylor became the first actress to earn $1 million for a role. It has been in a private collection for 20 years and has not been seen in public.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Taylor was one of Warhol's muses but Christie's said Tuesday that "Silver Liz" was one of only two Warhol portraits to show the actress with her famous violet eyes.
