Moldova: 28 police officers detained on bribe suspicions
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Moldovan prosecutors have detained 28 police officers on suspicion that they took bribes instead of handing out traffic fines.
The general prosecutor's office said the officers were detained at a meeting they were attending Tuesday at the interior ministry.
The office said undercover agents secretly filmed the officers allegedly taking kickbacks instead of fines for traffic violations.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Acting General Prosecutor Eduard Harunjen said more police officers may be detained.
If found guilty, they face prison sentences of up to 10 years.
