Martino steps down as Argentina national team coach

Gerardo Martino has resigned as Argentina's national team coach.

The Argentine Football Association announced his departure on Tuesday, just over a week after Argentina lost to Chile on penalties in the final of the Copa America in the United States.

Marino took over in August 2014 and, under his watch, lost two finals to Chile in the Copa America. Chile also beat Argentina in the 2015 final.

Martino won 19 of 29 matches with Argentina with seven draws and three losses.
