Magnitude 7.5 quake reported in Indian Ocean west of Nicobar Islands
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}NEW YORK (AP) — An earthquake measuring magnitude-7.5 was reported early Sunday in the Indian Ocean west of India's Nicobar Islands, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii initially issued a tsunami watch for the region. It later reduced the watch area to India only, and then canceled the warning.
There were no reports of damage or injury.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at 1:26 a.m. Sunday (1926 GMT Saturday) about 155 kilometers (95 miles) west of the Nicobar Islands at a depth of 35 kilometers (about 22 miles).
