India says boats carrying Indians bombed by aircraft traveling between Yemen and Somalia

India's Foreign Ministry says two boats carrying 20 Indian crew members were bombarded by aircraft while sailing between Somalia and Yemen, a day after the Yemeni coast guard said a Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemeni Shiite rebels bombed boats off its coast.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said Wednesday the boats were bombed Tuesday. Swarup says 13 crew members are alive and seven are missing. He did not elaborate.

The Yemeni coast guard said Tuesday a Saudi-led coalition attacked more than five boats off the Yemeni coast in airstrikes. Officials with the rebels, known as Houthis, said the boats were carrying fishermen and weren't connected to them.

All Yemeni officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to brief reporters.
