Germany: Merkel back to fuller schedule after ski injury but still faces weeks on crutches
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman says the German leader faces several more weeks on crutches after cracking her pelvis in a skiing accident — though she's now ready to return to a fuller working schedule.
Merkel has limited herself lately to a handful of public appearances, largely at Cabinet meetings, after doctors told her to rest for three weeks following her accident while cross-country skiing in Switzerland.
Spokesman Steffen Seibert said Friday that although the three weeks are nearly up a full recovery "requires patience above all." He told reporters that Merkel is now resuming a more normal schedule but they "will continue to see the chancellor using her crutches for several more weeks."
