Gen. Jacob Kodji, commander of Cameroon troops, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Saturday that the hostages included young girls who were being trained as suicide bombers. The rescue took place in the Nigerian town of Kumshe, 9 miles (15 kilometers) from the border with Cameroon.
He said at least 100 fighters were killed and Cameroon lost three soldiers in the raids.
