Business Owners On The Rockaways Struggle One Year After Sandy

A 14-foot storm surge destroyed much of the Rockaway's beach-front property, including its iconic boardwalk.

Close to the A train stop, 90th street is a popular beach for surfers and sunbathers alike.

While the city also has earmarked $1.77 billion in federal aid to help in the recovery of the over 750 businesses damaged in the storm, it hasn’t helped bring back the business from the thousands of people who left the Rockaways after losing their homes and livelihoods in the wake of Sandy.
