Belarus KGB summons Swedish teddy bear stunt team

A Swedish ad team says it's been summoned by Belarus' top security agency — the KGB — for violating the country's air space when they dropped hundreds of teddy bears carrying messages promoting human rights onto the ex-Soviet state's territory.

Last month's stunt infuriated Belarus' authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko, who fired two generals over it.

Thomas Mazetti, co-founder of Studio Total, which organized the July 4 toy drop, says he received the e-mailed summons Saturday. It demands that he and two colleagues appear before the KGB within 10 days, threatening them with "fines or two years of correctional work" if they don't show up.

The team has not decided if it will go.

Lukashenko has ruled Belarus since 1994, repressing the opposition and media. His government recently demanded Sweden close its embassy in Minsk.
