Asian shares lower in early trade after US market holiday
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}TOKYO (AP) — Asian stocks were lower in early trading Tuesday in the absence of fresh cues following a market holiday in the U.S.
Japan's Nikkei 225 stock average fell 89.24 points, or 0.9 percent, to 9,679.46. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.8 percent to 4,395.5.
In Seoul, Kospi lost 0.6 percent to 1,630.86, and Taiwan's benchmark fell 0.8 percent to 7,315.71.

In currencies, the dollar was trading at 91.96 yen from 91.45 yen late Monday. The euro dipped to $1.2262 from $1.2316.
