A wildfire burned for a third day around Cape Town's Table Mountain, injuring a firefighter as it caused an explosion at a lodge.

Emergency services spokeswoman Liezl Moodie said that at first light Tuesday, helicopters began dropping water onto the flames. She said the firefighter was injured while trying to put out a fire that destroyed a beach lodge on Monday. Moodie said his condition is stable and that he's expected to be released from hospital in a few days.

Moodie said about 150 firefighters battled the fire all night.
