7 killed on way to funeral in central Philippines
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Police say at least seven people have been killed and dozens injured after a truck fell into a ravine in the central Philippines after its brakes malfunctioned.
Regional police chief Ager Ontog says the government-owned dump truck was taking mourners to a funeral at a cemetery in Cebu province's Barili township on Thursday.
Local reports say the truck overturned and crushed some of the victims.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}It was the third major road accident in Cebu with mass casualties this year.
At least 15 died when their bus slammed into a concrete barrier in July in Toledo city. A month earlier, a bus rented by Iranian medical students fell into a ravine in Balamban township, killing 21 people. Brake failures were also blamed for those accidents.
