A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy has been released from the hospital after being shot and wounded in a gun battle with a suspect.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Sheriff Jim McDonnell says the 29-year-old deputy was released Wednesday and will continue his recovery at home.
Investigators said the deputy was shot late Tuesday while investigating a report that a man had pointed a gun at a woman who was parking her car.
They said a suspect pulled out a gun and fired at deputies, who shot back.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A 29-year-old suspect was shot in the torso and remained hospitalized. McDonnell said the suspect was a "documented gang member" on parole who had been released from prison about a month ago.
Investigators were questioning a juvenile who they detained near the shooting scene, but say he hasn't been arrested.

Sheriff's officials say the deputy and a suspect were wounded in a shootout late Tuesday in Santa Clarita.

Saldana says a second person was detained shortly after the shooting and is being questioned.
