Teen charged in parents' Halloween killing pleads not guilty
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A Maine teenager indicted on charges of killing his parents has pleaded not guilty.
Nineteen-year-old Andrew Balcer is charged with stabbing his parents to death on Halloween morning 2016.
The Kennebec Journal reports Balcer stood before a judge on Friday and responded to an inquiry about his pleas by saying, "Not guilty on all, sir."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Balcer agreed to be held in jail in lieu of a bail hearing that could have resulted in his losing his right to bail. He still has the right to request such a hearing.
Balcer's trial is tentatively set for November 2018.
Balcer also pleaded not guilty to a cruelty to animals charge. He was accused of killing the family's Chihuahua.
