Suspect in death of Connecticut jeweler reportedly arrested in Spain

Federal authorities have reportedly charged a man with murder in connection with killing a Connecticut custom jeweler in his business last month.
Andrew Robert Levene, also known as "Robert Thomas," 41, was arrested Monday in Spain on federal murder, robbery and firearm charges, the Connecticut Post reports.
Authorities allege Levene fatally shot Yekutiel Zeevi, the 65-year-old owner of Y.Z. Jewelry in Westport, Conn., and wounded one of Zeevi's business associates the night of Dec. 8.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Levene has also charged with stealing approximately $300,000 in diamonds before fleeing to Europe, the newspaper reports.
Levene met with Zeevi in his store under the guise that he was going to purchase several large diamonds he had arranged to buy earlier that month, according to a federal criminal complaint. Authorities say Leven then shot Zeevi and another man before fleeing.
Zeevi's business associate -- Ronen Konfino, 48, of New York City -- survived the shooting and helped authorities in the investigation, the newspaper reports.
