Southern California man gets a year in jail for beating death of his pet poodle
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A Southern California man who beat to death his miniature poodle has been sentenced to a year in jail.
Prosecutors say Jason Vaca of Baldwin Park was sentenced Tuesday after pleading no contest to a felony count of animal cruelty. He also must attend anger management and animal cruelty classes.
In addition, Vaca can't own any animal for 10 years.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}He was arrested in March of last year after Baldwin Park police answering a 911 call found Vaca with blood on his clothes and blood in the house.
The officers found Vaca's poodle, Butters, dead in the backyard.
