Sheriff's department says deputies fatally shoot man after he brandishes weapon
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Police in Chattanooga are investigating a fatal shooting by Hamilton County deputies.
Local media report the shooting happened Tuesday night when deputies responded to a call about a possibly armed suspect. Hamilton County Sheriff's spokesman Gino Bennett says in a statement that the suspect, 46-year-old Brent Pickard, fled by vehicle and officers followed, trying multiple times to pull him over.
When Pickard, who is white, did stop on a highway north of Hixson, Bennet said he "brandished a weapon at which time officers had to use deadly force to stop him."
