Authorities have arrested a man accused of selling a Dallas home by posing as its dead owner, whose death is being investigated as a homicide.
Dallas Police Maj. Max Geron tells station KXAS-TV U.S. Marshals arrested 43-year-old Christopher Brian Colbert on Thursday in Los Angeles.
Police allege Colbert assumed the identity of deceased 57-year-old Ronald Shumway and sold his home. Court records say Colbert either lived with Shumway or next to him and had "access" to Shumway's property.

Colbert is in custody pending extradition on charges of tampering with a governmental record, securing execution of a document by deception and money laundering. He faces no charges in Shumway's death.
Jail records don't list an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
