A man who told a nanny she was pushing a dead baby in a stroller and then followed her home has been found naked on the couch in a psychotherapist's office, police said Tuesday.
Investigators allege Craig Myczkowski approached the nanny as she pushed a 20-month-old child in a stroller Monday near the child's home in Woodmere, on Long Island. They said he told her she was "pushing a dead baby" and then ordered her to give him the child.
The 65-year-old nanny took the child inside the house and locked the doors, but Myczkowski got in through an unlocked door to a mudroom, Nassau County Police Detective Lt. Richard Lebrun said at a news conference. Lebrun said Myczkowski grabbed the empty stroller and took off. The nanny and the child were uninjured.

Investigators canvassed the neighborhood and found the stroller at a nearby pizzeria.
On Tuesday morning, an employee opening up for the day at a psychotherapist's office in Hewlett found Myczkowski, whose last known address was in Manhattan, asleep on the couch in the office without any clothes, authorities said. Lebrun said crime-scene investigators remained at the office Tuesday. He said Myczkowski had no connection to the therapist.
Myczkowski, 44, appeared incoherent when officers found him, and he was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric examination, Lebrun said. He was arrested on attempted unlawful imprisonment, child endangerment, burglary and other charges.

Myczkowski was being held Tuesday afternoon and couldn't be reached for comment. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
