Officials say five people have been killed in two shootings in northeastern Georgia.

Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins says three people were shot Friday night at one location in Appling, two of whom died at the scene; the third died at the hospital. He says two other people were shot dead at another location about a mile away.

He says he is working to confirm their identities and all five bodies would be going to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab.

County Sheriff's Office Capt. Andy Shedd tells WRDW in Augusta that police believe this is the work of one gunman, who they were still seeking.
