Officer: Dog rescued from cliff ledge in park ran away from home
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A dog rescued from a cliff ledge in Kenai Fjords National Park apparently ran away from home.
Seward, Alaska, animal control officer Shelli McDowell said the people who had adopted Sadie on a trial basis were out of state for a family emergency and left the Labradoodle with a house sitter.
McDowell said they learned Tuesday that Sadie had been missing. McDowell estimated Sadie had probably traveled about 20 miles from home.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Park officials last week started hearing reports of a dog on Exit Glacier and along the Resurrection River. Rangers rescued Sadie on Monday.
McDowell said Sadie is skittish, shy and a runner. McDowell was waiting to see if the family would be able to keep her or if she would have to be placed with someone else.
