Authorities say a New York City man drove a rented power boat over another vessel, broke a dock and landed on an Adirondack island, then swam away.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office says Benjamin Byland of Brooklyn was operating a 20-foot boat on Lake George early Sunday morning when he made a U-turn and drove over an unoccupied boat tied to a campsite dock on Burgess Island in Hague.
His boat then hit and broke the dock before hitting a tree on the island. Campers called police as Byland dragged the bot back into the water and attempted to restart it. He then swam to shore.

He was found Sunday in nearby Ticonderoga and charged with reckless operation of a vehicle and failure to report a boat accident. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.
