Mom pleads guilty to hindering son's apprehension in deaths
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Prosecutors say a mother has pleaded guilty to a charge that she hindered the apprehension of her teenage son on murder charges.
Michelle Staton entered a negotiated guilty plea Monday. Faulkner County Prosecutor Cody Hiland said she was sentenced to six years in prison and six additional years of a suspended sentence for hindering apprehension and two unrelated drug charges.
Fifteen-year-old Justin Staton has pleaded not guilty to capital murder and other charges in the shooting of Robert and Patricia Cogdell, who raised him as their grandson.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Prosecutors allege the teen and his friend, 18-year-old Hunter Drexler, robbed and shot the couple, then dumped their bodies in a wooded area nearby.
Drexler and two other teens have also pleaded not guilty to charges in the slayings.
