Maryland police: Officer shot, may be 'active shooter'
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Police in Maryland say a police officer has been shot and that there might be an "active shooter" outside the Landover police station in Prince George's County, a suburb of Washington, D.C.
Police posted a message Sunday afternoon on Twitter asking residents to avoid the area and to stay inside.
Prince George's County Assistant Fire Chief Alan Doubleday told The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/1RI9Yh2 ) that one person was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound and a second person was transported by police.

The condition of the officer who was shot, and other details, were not immediately released by authorities.
