A Georgia man had all the materials necessary to be a dentist, including a chair, tools, medications and even patients. But then there was the not-so-small matter of a license to practice.
Gwinnett County police arrested 71-year-old Vladimir Mandyzuk after the man admitted he was practicing dental work illegally in his basement, WSB-TV reports.
Police were notified of the operation when a 20-year-old patient of Mandyzuk’s grew concerned about returning for an appointment after he didn’t find any trace of the "dentist" online.
A police spokesman said Mandyzuk was cooperative during a search of his home and claimed he only took dentistry classes in college.
He was charged with practicing dentistry without a license -- a felony, and was held in the county jail without bond.
