Now that flood waters are receding, it’s time for President Obama to visit flood-ravaged Louisiana, the “most anguished state in the union,” the Baton Rouge Advocate declared in an editorial.

The Advocate editorial pointed out that as torrential rains brought death, destruction and misery to Louisiana, Obama continued his vacation on Martha’s Vineyard.

“We’ve seen this story before in Louisiana, and we don’t deserve a sequel,” the state's largest newspaper said Thursday, referring to President Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina.

The paper said it was past time for Obama to pay a personal visit to show solidarity with suffering Americans.
