CHICAGO -- Two of the nation's leading lenders say they've already addressed the issues that led the Cook County sheriff to announce he was halting court-ordered evictions for the second time in two years.
A GMAC/Ally Financial spokesman said in a statement Tuesday that the company has reviewed cases and taken proper steps to address any problems. A Bank of America official says a review of its files show the information used in past foreclosures was accurate.
A third lender, JP Morgan Chase, declined to comment.
Sheriff Tom Dart says if he doesn't receive written affidavits from each lender by Monday vouching for the accuracy of the eviction orders he won't carry out any of their evictions.
