An eastern Kansas man has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree felony murder and five other charges related to a high-speed chase that ended with a 5-year-old girl dead of a gunshot wound.
Leavenworth, Kansas, Police Chief Pat Kitchens says 30-year-old Marcus McGowan is hospitalized under guard. Police shot him Friday night after a pursuit that started in Missouri and ended at a Leavenworth construction site.
Police wouldn't say who fired the shot that killed Cadence Harris, whose mom was in a relationship with McGowan, but told reporters Monday the charges speak for themselves.

Kitchens says McGowan was arrested Monday afternoon and the case will be turned over to the Leavenworth County prosecutor, who will decide whether to file formal charges.
A phone number listed for McGowan's grandparents is disconnected.
