Girl saved after slipping into icy Sandy Hook Bay; 14-year-old was in water 20 minutes
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A New Jersey girl is expected to recover after being rescued from icy waters in the Sandy Hook Bay.
The Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/1Fs9z0O) reports a 14-year girl fell into the bay after 2 p.m. Tuesday while she was walking with a friend along an overflow pipe that empties into the bay in Middletown.
She spent about 20 minutes in the waist-deep waters where the temperature was below 30 degrees.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Members of the Leonardo First Aid & Recuse Squad moved her to shore on a sled, then put her on a stretcher to take her to an ambulance. She was taken to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank for treatment of possible hypothermia.
