Girl, 8, dies after falling from window of 9th floor apartment in Philadelphia

Authorities say an 8-year-old girl who fell nine stories from a west Philadelphia apartment building has died.

Police say the girl fell from an apartment window on the ninth floor of the building at 7:44 a.m. Wednesday.

A police spokeswoman said medics rushed the girl to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was pronounced dead just before 8:30 a.m.

Police said the death is under investigation.
