Georgia funeral planned for California victim credited with shielding co-worker from bullets
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The San Bernardino, California shooting victim credited with shielding a co-worker from bullets as he was killed is returning home to Georgia for burial.
A funeral service for 45-year-old Shannon Hilliard Johnson was scheduled Saturday in the rural city of Jesup, where his mother and siblings live in southeast Georgia.
Fourteen people died in the attack during a Dec. 2 holiday party. One of Johnson's co-workers, Denise Peraza, says he wrapped an arm around her and said "I got you" as they sought cover from the gunfire.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Johnson grew up in Georgia. He spent years driving tractor-trailers moving to California, where he settled in Los Angeles and worked as a health inspector for San Bernardino County.
