Fresno, Calif., police arrest 108 since starting crackdown on gangs this week
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — More than 100 suspects are facing charges since police in Fresno, Calif., started a crackdown on gangs this week.
After three people were killed in separate shootings over the weekend, Police Chief Jerry Dyer ordered officers to start looking for guns and drugs in a Fresno neighborhood known for gang activity.
Police say 108 people have been arrested in the sweeps, including 55 on felony charges, and six search warrants have been served.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The sweeps come after one man died Saturday and two people were shot to death Sunday, including a 16-year-old boy who was found with an AK-47 assault rifle.
With the weekend killings, the number of homicides in Fresno so far this year stands at 20.
