Family of Australian baseball player, slain in Oklahoma, weeps during murder trial testimony
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The family of an Australian college baseball player who was shot to death in Oklahoma have cried as a witness testified he tried to comfort the 22-year-old.
Richard Rhoades testified Wednesday in in the first-degree murder trial of 17-year-old Chancey Luna for the 2013 shooting death of Christopher Lane.
The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/1FUtBze ) that Rhoades testified he rushed to Lane after hearing a gunshot and used his shirt to wipe blood from Lane's mouth while telling him to hold on and that help was on the way. Lane's mother was among family members in the courtroom.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Luna's attorneys say Allen fired the fatal shot, but only meant to scare Lane as he was jogging.
Luna faces life in prison either with or without the possibility of parole if convicted.
