Family, Friends Grieve Teacher Killed in Hotel Halloween Party Plunge
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Officials say grief counselors will be on site at a Chicago elementary school mourning the death of a teacher who fell several floors inside a downtown Chicago hotel over the weekend.
Authorities say Megan Duskey of Crete died Saturday evening while at a Halloween party at the Palmer House Hilton.
Police have launched a death investigation, but a preliminary investigation shows she was trying slide down a stair railing when she fell.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond says Duskey was an early childhood special education teacher at Orville T. Bright School on Chicago's South Side.
Family members say Duskey was a 2009 graduate of Northern Illinois University and are remembering her as a caring woman ready to make a difference.
The hotel has not returned messages seeking comment.
