Convicted killer evades guards, peels through 2 electric fences to escape Michigan prison
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A convicted killer managed to evade guards and peel through two electric fences to escape a Michigan prison. But he was tripped up by transportation issues once on the outside.
Authorities say Michael David Elliot was captured Monday night, a day after the brazen escape.
Investigators say Elliot abducted a woman and stole her Jeep, and made his way about 100 miles south into Indiana before the woman fled when he stopped for gas.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}He made his way to another Indiana community, where he stole another vehicle, but a sheriff's deputy quickly spotted the stolen car. The chase led to Elliot's capture.
No one was injured.
Authorities are now left to sort out exactly what happened. Elliot had a record of good behavior during his 20 years in custody.
