Bullied boy with ADHD brings it on himself, classmate’s father says
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A father whose teenage son is accused of posting a video online of classmates teasing a 13-year-old Iowa boy with Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD says it is wrong, but added that the boy brings it upon himself.
“I would say three-fourths of this stuff he brings on himself and probably a fourth of it is bullying that shouldn’t be going on,” Levi Weatherly told WHOtv.com. The man's son was not named.
Using school computers, students at Melcher-Dallas High School have been posting videos online of Levi Null reacting to medications, the station reports.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}“People tell me to run into things and I don’t really like it. And I tell them that I don’t want to and they just laugh at me, whenever I do it,” Levi Null said.
Null’s mother, Dawn Simmons, says classmates have been “hitting him upside his head.”
But in an email to Simmons, Principal Josh Ehn wrote that the latest “video posted online was not found to be bullying.”
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Ehn said the students who are behind posting the video have been disciplined and the video has been destroyed, but it’s up to the teens to police themselves.
“We try our best to educate our staff, educate our students to react to the cases and investigate the cases that we have, but ultimately it’s gotta come down to the kids to take ownership of this and to stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves,” he told WHOtv.com.
