Authorities: Woman stabbed to death in Oregon restaurant; officer fatally wounds armed man
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a woman is dead and an armed man has been fatally wounded by a police officer responding to a call for help from a suburban Portland restaurant.
Hillsboro Police Lt. Mike Rouches says an officer responded late Thursday to an incomplete 911 call from the restaurant.
The officer saw a woman who had been stabbed lying on the floor, with a man standing over her with a bloody knife. Rouches says the armed man began approaching the officer, who fired his gun.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The woman died at the scene. Rouches says the critically wounded man was taken by helicopter to a Portland hospital, where he died.
The man and woman were described only as being in their early 30s. The spokesman says the stabbing "could be a domestic violence situation."
The officer wasn't immediately identified.
