Arizona inmate captured months after escaping from jail by breaking apart security fence
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A physically fit inmate who escaped from an Arizona jail by hoisting himself atop a basketball hoop and pulling apart an overhead security fence has been captured.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says Wade Cole Dickinson was arrested Monday night after being on the run since July 12.
Authorities planned a Tuesday afternoon news conference to detail the search for Dickinson.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}An investigative report released by the sheriff's office said Dickinson's classification as a medium-security inmate and his fitness level played a major part in his ability to flee.
Dickinson broke a security camera before hoisting himself atop a basketball hoop, grabbing on to an overhead security fence and breaking it apart. The report said no one was directly supervising the recreation yard when he escaped.
The U.S. Marshals Service later joined the hunt for Dickinson.
