4 dead at crash in California intersection, police say
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Police say four men are dead and five others taken to a hospital after their vehicle collided with a semi-truck at an intersection near Fresno.
California Highway Patrol officer Brian Wendland says the crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Friday about 12 miles east of the city, in the community of Reedley.
The Fresno Bee reports that the men were aboard a van that struck the front of the truck, which was turning off American Avenue onto another road.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Wedland tells the paper that five other men in the van were taken to a hospital, but there were no details about injuries.
The truck driver was unhurt.
The road was closed near the crash site but was expected to reopen sometime Saturday morning.
