4 arrested in killing of north Philly market clerk

Authorities say four people have been charged in the murder of a north Philadelphia store clerk, including a man who was being sought in a slaying last fall that she was believed to have witnessed.

Police said Tuesday that 23-year-old Jorge Aldea, 20-year-old Raymond Soto, 19-year-old Eliana Vazquez and a 17-year-old youth are charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, intimidation and related offenses in the murder of 33-year-old Rosemary Fernandez-Rivera. She was gunned down by a masked person Jan. 23 inside the Caribe Mini Market in the Kensington section of the city.

Investigators said Tuesday that they believe the victim was killed because she witnessed the November murder of 22-year-old Luis Chevere near the store. Aldea was arrested Friday in the Bronx in New York City on charges in that case.
