Three Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies who work at an area correctional center are reportedly under investigation by the government for alleged sales of illegal firearms.

Fox 40 in Sacramento reports that the three deputies, who work at the Rio Consumnes facility, are being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after a large quantity of firearms was allegedly purchased.

The deputies are accused of buying handguns that only law enforcement officers can purchase in California, then selling them to non-officers, according to the station.

ATF officers reportedly conducted search warrants late Thursday. No arrests have been made.

Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones told the station that he was aware of the investigation, saying "ATF kept me fully apprised."
