{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Police are investigating the deaths of two employees in an apparent "robbery gone bad" at a beachside resort on Florida's Gulf Coast.
Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming said during a news conference Friday that officers were called to Zota Beach Resort about 3:30 a.m. and found the bodies of 51-year-old security guard Kevin Carter and 59-year-old front desk manager Timothy Hurley. Both men died of gunshot wounds.
Police say video from surveillance cameras at the hotel shows the suspect in the slayings.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Cummings described the shooting as "isolated," adding he has "no concerns for residents or visitors on the island."
An investigation continues.
The resort opened June 23. Longboat Key is a barrier island off of Sarasota.
