Report: Popular Britney Spears Fan Site Shutting Down

One of Britney Spears' most popular fan Web sites is shutting down, suggesting the disgraced pop queen may be losing her subjects' support, reported TMZ.com.

WorldofBritney.com — which has followed Spears and everything associated with her since 2000 — will die, according to celebrity gossip site TMZ.

Webmaster Ruben Garay took a few swipes at Brit in announcing WorldofBritney's end.

"As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is (World of Britney)," Garay wrote. "I believe Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least). No matter what anyone thinks or how they may disagree, it's very hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going."

Garay said he still respects Spears "as a human being" and wrote that her recent pantyless parade wasn't the main reason he'd made the decision to close the Web site, TMZ reported.

Spears has been at the center of controversy ever since "commando" photos of the star going out sans skivvies appeared on the Internet.

Earlier this month, Spears responded to the scandal, asking fans to understand that babymaking has prevented her from partying with pals and thanking God for "Victoria's Secrets' (sic) new underwear line."

Spears, who turned 25 on Dec. 2, filed for divorce from aspiring rapper and backup dancer Kevin Federline last month after two years of marriage. She and Federline have a 1-year-old son, Sean Preston, and an infant son, Jayden James, who was born Sept. 12. Spears is seeking custody of both children, with visitation rights for Federline.
