Nevada Gold Mine Worker Missing More Than 5,000 Feet Under Ground After Accident
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A gold mine worker was missing Wednesday and feared trapped deep under ground in northeastern Nevada, company officials said.
The man was working on a loader some 5,600 feet below the surface at the Midas underground project, a gold mine, when the ground gave way on Tuesday, Newmont Mining Corp. spokeswoman Mary Korpi said.
The mine was evacuated and shut down.
